From the very first moment you mount
Samsung LN46A650 on a wall or place upon a cabinet and turn it on, it is a joy to have and use. The first thing you see on the screen is a wizard to set a language and identify if you use the HDTV in a store or at home. After you set main settings Samsung LN46A650 searches for available channels and there you go -- you watch it.
As for the menu, you'll find a big, easy to find and hit button on a remote control. Obscuring a picture on the screen when clicking through options will not be an issue for you and that's one more advantage of this TV. For adjusting settings use the Tools button and its menu. The Source button on the remote is used to list and check all the HDTV's inputs (with active ones highlighted and at the top).
Despite its high-level usability, the model has some flaws. As an example, the sound mode can be changed only after turning off a special Entertainment setting which can be found at the setup menu. Another disadvantage is lacking a PIP button on the remote control which would allow watching two inputs at a time, though it is an in-built feature. There are no other extreme flaws in the TV's remote. Other settings like the aspect ratio, closed captioning, and picture modes are easily set right from the remote. One more thing that makes the remote usable is a jog wheel which replaced a typical circle of arrow buttons.
The features package for the
Samsung LN46A650 is awesome. You can connect any USB storage device to the TV through the side-mounted USB port. At the rear there is an Ethernet port, so you can use Samsung's InfoLink RSS service to get news and other sports, finance and weather related information from USA Today on your screen.
